Project 2 – Finding Aids.
· Write at least two finding aids to address under-recognized artifacts in the TFC’s holdings (possibly craft posts for social media relating to finding aid content)
Ailie provided an excellent template for a Finding Aid for Todd Oldham and some additional Finding Aid example links. Fortunately, I had just completed coursework INFO5240 Archival Arrangement and Description, which included an in-depth study of finding aids and concluded with writing a finding aid final assignment. Nevertheless, this was my first real-life writing assignment.
I started my research by browsing the TFC’s digital assets and the MuseumPlus database. I reviewed metadata on designers Todd Oldham and Michael Faircloth. Highlighting diverse sizes, including Plus sizes, could be an excellent project to raise awareness. However, the sizes of each of the garments have not yet been added to the metadata. This may be another good project to include in my work. I will discuss this with Ailie and Annette to get their thoughts.
